The Hearthwood Family
The people, the animals, and the plants.
Welcome to our little world!
Co-Founder
Asteria
The independent successful business woman behind & in front of the scene.
Asteria is the creative mind behind Hearthwood and the person most likely to spend three hours deciding the colour of a glass jar lid.
Once an artist (and an artist forever), she now lives a happy life surrounded by pet treats, a coffee machine, and a MacBook Air.
Co-Founder
Alan
The guy behind the scene. Working hard all day & night. (No choice.)
A professional software engineer by trade, now specialises in meat cutting, kitchen duties, equipment repairs, and convincing ten cardboard boxes to fit into a commercial bin that definitely has no room left.
Claims he's leaving early to study animal nutrition. We trust him.
Meet & Greet Officer
Zaozao
Breeder said she's a calm girl - she's not.
Zaozao loves customers, and customers love her back. She takes her role very seriously and believes everyone who walks through the door came specifically to see her.
She's school educated but may still eat people's fingers.
We're making progress.
Treat Inspector
Juju
The first child.
Juju was adopted from Cat Heaven and is the reason Hearthwood exists in the first place. He's a sensitive boy who has the gentlest behaviour and a very soft heart.
His standards are high, his opinions are strong, and he only approves the best yummy treats.
(no need to work)
Prince
Prince is too cool to have a job title.
We pay all the bills, so he can have the place.
The Greens
-
The Rubber Plant
Loyal staff since day one.
Was initially looking for a 'Tineke' species but accidentally bought the whole family home.
Oops.
They are still alive.
-
The Dragon Tail
Loyal staff since day one.
Has developed a rather unusual attachment to the chalkboard.
We don't ask questions.
The relationship seems healthy and consensual.
Obviously still alive.
-
Rapunzel
Loyal staff since day one.
To be more accurate, this is a Rhipsalis.
Happy to hang in her tower. Still alive.
-
The Devil's Ivy Twins
Bought for $10 each.
Will become many more $10 soon.
Half-price for Hearthwood customers.
BYOP (Bring Your Own Pot).More than alive.
-
The Bunnings Rosemarry
One of the million things bought from Bunnings.
Reminding you of a good smell steakhouse instead of a pet shop. Well done.
Yes, alive.
-
The Innocent 'ZZ'
Once was a home member, now forced to work.
Once was bullied by a cat (Prxxcx), now happy to live in peace.
Alive (who would kill a ZZ plant?).
