FAQs
How long is the shelf life of your treats?
Our freeze-dried treats are best consumed within 12 months from the production date when stored unopened in a cool, dry place.
To help maintain freshness, all packaged Hearthwood freeze-dried treats are sealed in foil-lined pouches and include an oxygen absorber. Our in-store treat jars are also maintained with moisture-control sachets.
Once opened, we recommend transferring the treats to an airtight container and consuming them within one month for the best texture and freshness.
Are freeze-dried treats suitable for both dogs and cats?
Yes! Many of our single-protein freeze-dried treats are suitable for both dogs and cats. Individual product pages will indicate whether a product is suitable for dogs, cats, or both.
Are your freeze-dried treats raw?
Our freeze-dried treats are made from raw ingredients that are gently freeze-dried to preserve their natural flavour, texture, and nutritional value.
What are the white spots on some freeze-dried treats?
You may occasionally notice small white spots on the surface of certain freeze-dried red meats, such as beef, venison, buffalo or kangaroo.
These spots are typically natural connective tissue, collagen, or nutrients that become more visible during the freeze-drying process, particularly on freshly cut surfaces of the meat.
This is a normal characteristic of freeze-dried products and does not indicate mould, spoilage, or a quality issue.
